The timing isn’t quite right for me. When will you run the course again?
I only run Marketing For Weirdos once a year, and I don’t plan to run it again until fall of next year, so if you can swing it this time around, I recommend that! All the classes are recorded (with lifetime access to the recordings), so you could sign up for this round and watch them as a self paced course on your own time. There will be monthly Office Hours calls for 3 months after the course concludes for anyone who registered, so folks who are watching on their own time have a chance to ask questions. All of that’s to say, it’s pretty doable and supported, even if you can’t be fully present this round!
How much do you focus on social media? Email lists? Other methods?
It is pretty oriented around content marketing, probably 3/4 content strategy and 1/4 alternatives. The method I teach works regardless of platform, whether you’re on IG or Bluesky or Substack. That said, I am NOT teaching people to be posting daily or churning out content for content’s sake. We’ve got great guest speakers this year teaching about SEO and alternatives to social media as well, so your bases are covered.
Does this course teach about advertising, affiliate marketing, etc?
Nope, those are outside the scope of this course! M4W focuses on content marketing.
Do you cover anything about identifying an audience in the course? Or is it assumed that folks who take the course kinda know who they are serving?
We don’t orient around audience or niche. We definitely look at what you’re selling and what’s relevant to talk about in your marketing in order to sell that thing, so knowing what you want to offer for sale will be vastly helpful for this course, even if it’s just a guess/even if it changes later. So having some idea of WHAT you’re trying to market does matter, though WHO you’re trying to market to isn’t as crucial.
Is the course only for service businesses?
The method I teach works for lots of folks, but I find it’s easiest applied by people running online service-based businesses. If you’re a product-based business, it could work for you if you’re trying to sell something that has an emotional component, broadly speaking, to the sale (as opposed to strictly practical products). If you run a service business that only works with people in person and locally, it could still be applicable. Feel free to reach out if you want me to weigh in on whether your particular business would be a good fit.
Do you work with artists and creatives?
Yes! The course is a little more geared towards service based businesses than product based ones but creative folks are definitely in my wheelhouse. (I have an art degree and I’m a theater nerd too.)
Is it too early in my business for this to be useful?
If you want to have a business now or in the future, the stuff you learn in M4W will help you whenever it’s the right time to apply it. So like, if you don’t start actually using the marketing system til next year, it will still be relevant and useable then. There’s no time limit on the methodology. We’re not chasing trends! That said, if it’s not the right time for you, I will likely offer this class again but not til next year!
Can I use your method with my own clients?
Nope! This is a course for your personal business use, and not a trainer-training in the methodology. At some point in the future I may offer a training like that, but for now, I ask business coaches and VAs and other biz-to-biz service providers to only use this themselves and not with their own clients.
Can I do 1:1 coaching with you?
Yes, I’m offering a limited number of spots for in depth support as you work through the course.
You can opt to add 2 hour-long coaching calls where we can audit your existing marketing, plan content for the year ahead, and answer your toughest marketing questions. (Fine print: 2 sessions, 1 hour each, expire March 2025, $570, sign up option at checkout.)
Is it really ok for me to use a solidarity discount?
Absolutely. I offer the payment plans and solidarity discounts on a self-determined basis, so if you decide you need one of them, feel free to make use of them! I genuinely trust my clients and students to make supportive choices.
Is there a close date for registration?
We officially start Nov 25 but registration stays open throughout the course because lots of people end up hearing about it once we’re already in session!
What if I want support around this stuff but you’re not the right fit for me?
